LEGO Billy Connolly prompts long queues in Glasgow

The one-day sale of exclusive, but unofficial, Billy Connolly LEGO minifigures caused long queues in Glasgow, with fans lining up since 4am.

Glaswegian shopping centre, Buchanan Galleries, sold a limited edition run of 750 unofficial minifigures of Connolly, comprising of five different versions of the performer. Eager fans of the comedian queued from the early hours of the meaning, causing lines of people to trickle out onto the street.

Before the day itself, shoppers were warned that the minifigures would be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The shopping centre opened at 9am this morning, meaning that some especially keen people were standing outside for five hours to make sure they got their hands on the limited edition collection.

The money from the day of sales will go towards Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which provides an average of 500 children a day with lifesaving treatment.

Each minifigure represents a different stage of Connolly’s career. The solo Funny Yin could be bought on its own for £10 or a donation of more than £50 would have got you the full set of all five. However, as today was the only day they were on sale, you might have missed your chance by now.
