LEGO Botanical Collection officially revealed
The LEGO Group has officially unveiled its two Botanical Collection sets, 10280 Flower Bouquet and 10281 Bonsai Tree.
We’ve had images of both sets for a while, predominantly courtesy of third-party retailers and LEGO catalogues. But the LEGO Group has now finally acknowledged the sets by way of an official press release.
In step with the rest of its 18+ models, the company is billing the buildable plants as a way to relax and unwind, pointing out that LEGO plants ‘don’t need to be watered to stay fresh’. You know, just in case anyone out there was unsure of how to care for their plastic plants.
According to the LEGO Play Well Study 2020, 70% of adults regularly seek out new ways to destress, while more than 80% say that play helps them relax. That pretty clearly identifies the target market the LEGO Group is going after with these flowery new models.
“As adults look for new ways to switch off and relax, we’re delighted to be able to help them seek solace from their busy everyday lives as they immerse themselves in creating these beautiful botanical builds,” says Jamie Berard, Design Lead at the LEGO Group. “The customisable elements and mindful building experience will hopefully help them express their personality as their creativity blossoms.”
10280 Flower Bouquet stands over 36cm high (when arranged in a specific but undisclosed way, according to the press release), while 10281 Bonsai Tree reaches a height of 18cm. Both sets will launch on January 1, 2021 for £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99. You can read the Brick Fanatics verdict on each of the Botanical Collection models by clicking through the links below:

They’re not the only buildable flowers coming in the new year, though. If the Botanical Collection is beyond your budget – or will simply take up too much space – the LEGO Group is also launching smaller and cheaper options in 40460 Roses and 40461 Tulips. Better yet, both of those sets can be combined with 10280 Flower Bouquet and 10281 Bonsai Tree for an even fuller display.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
