LEGO builds in 60 bricks: Star Wars Jabba the Hutt’s throne room

Brick Fanatics is challenging talented builders to demonstrate what can be done with just 60 LEGO pieces. The almighty Jabba is still an imposing gangster, even when constructed with just 60 bricks

Brick Fanatics decided to celebrate 60 years of the LEGO brick with a challenge – put together a series of builds in which each model uses just 60 pieces. It is not easy to produce a recognisable, clever build with such a specific piece count, but Dimitri and Jme were certainly up the challenge…

Star Wars – Jabba the Hutt’s throne room

Now this proved a real challenge! As with all of my micro builds, I like to use tiles to hide the studs. I just feel it gives a cleaner, more polished look. Yet trying to incorporate Jabba, Jabba’s thrown, the trap door for the rancor pit, Han Solo in Carbonite and tiles meant that the whole build took a number of attempts. No matter what I tried I was always one or two bricks over the magic 60.

I finally managed to get everything to work within the 60 brick stipulation by using a number of 1x1x3 pieces to hold the arches up, saving myself at least eight bricks in the process, which if you ever attempt this yourself, is an invaluable amount.

I love all things brick-related, but the theme that really floats my boat is the original LEGO Pirates range. I currently have a LEGO wishlist that far outstretches my shelf space... and bank balance!
