LEGO builds in 60 bricks: Star Wars Space Slug escape

Brick Fanatics is challenging talented builders to demonstrate what can be done with just 60 LEGO pieces. This 60 brick build captures the Millennium Falcon’s close call in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Brick Fanatics decided to celebrate 60 years of the LEGO brick with a challenge – put together a series of builds in which each model uses just 60 pieces. It is not easy to produce a recognisable, clever build with such a specific piece count, but Dimitri and Jme were certainly up the challenge…

Star Wars – Space Slug escape

I think this might be my favourite build I have done in this series, I just love how smart it looks on display.

The slug itself was made with a mixture of slopes and inverted slopes to create the cut out cavern look. Then I used my all time favourite part (a round 1×1 with hole) to attach the white tooth and cow horn parts for the slug’s teeth. I did initially use the 1×2 tooth part but it just didn’t look quite as effective.

When it comes to the Millennium Falcon itself, it is pretty detailed considering its only built on a 2×2 round plate. It does use an illegal build technique on the bottom, an angled 1×1 plate, to keep the two 1×1 round plates in place (the trans-blue at the back and the light bluish grey at the side). Have a look at the shot from behind the build and you will see what I mean.

I currently have a LEGO wishlist that far outstretches my shelf space... and bank balance!
