LEGO CMF Series 23 shares a link with 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle

The upcoming LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71034 Series 23 has a deep cut connection with the 90th Anniversary 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle.

Arriving in August as part of the LEGO Group’s 90th Anniversary celebrations will be two new sets inspired by classic models of yesteryear. 10497 Galaxy Explorer is set to launch on August 1 and 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle will release on August 8.

In a recent interview, Milan Madge, Senior LEGO designer of 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle, revealed that the team behind the model had combined, ‘favourite features from numerous castles into a single ultimate design.’ It’s one of those previous sets that also manages to subtly link 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle to the upcoming LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71034 Series 23.

One of the 12 characters included in the new CMF collection is the Knight of the Yellow Castle. The minifigure’s armour and shield feature a crown crest on a pink/purple background, which is a reference to the same shield design carried by the minifigure knights included with 375 Castle – a classic set that is predominantly built from yellow pieces.

A closer look at the images released so far for 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle reveals that the same shield also appears in the massive 4,514-piece set. A dining room inside the castle includes the Knight of the Yellow Castle’s shield seen mounted on the wall. A mini yellow castle can also be found in the playroom of the upcoming model, along with many other nods to classic sets from the LEGO Group’s past.

71034 Series 23 will be available from September 1 for £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99 each on the official online store and in physical LEGO shops.
