Every LEGO set confirmed and rumoured for 2023 – November update

As the LEGO Group starts to reveal the first sets coming in 2023, here’s a complete round-up of everything confirmed and rumoured for release next year.

We’re in the thick of LEGO rumour and reveal season now, as the LEGO Group properly starts to lift the lid on everything lined up for release in January. First off the bat are LEGO Friends, Avatar, Chinese Traditional Festivals and Monkie Kid, all of which now have confirmed models coming in 2023 (or, in some regions, before the end of this year).

It means we’re starting to get a clearer picture of next year’s portfolio already – but there are still dozens of rumoured sets that have yet to be revealed (and therefore may still prove to be false, so should be taken lightly for now). Dive in below for the latest word on LEGO in 2023.

LEGO Art

Next year’s mystery LEGO Art set is now rumoured to be a depiction of Katsushika Hokusa’s seminal The Great Wave off Kanagawa, potentially as a three-dimensional build not unlike 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night. That’s good news for art fiends, but bad news for one LEGO Ideas project

LEGO Avatar

The first wave of LEGO Avatar sets coming in 2023 is based entirely on the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water,  but continues the theme’s unique mix of colourful Pandora builds and harsh military models. As with the initial batch of sets, they’re also heavily display-focused, to better target their core demographic of older fans.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures

Early details on next year’s Creator 3-in-1 line-up suggest the LEGO Group is going all-in on animals, though none of the reported price tags or piece counts quite reach this year’s 31129 Majestic Tiger. Fingers crossed that mystery set 31138 is an animal worthy of going toe-to-toe with one of the best Creator sets in recent years.

LEGO DC / LEGO Batman

Another month, another dearth of new rumours for LEGO DC. The lesser-spotted half of the LEGO Group’s two superhero themes still appears to be on its last legs, with only one new set reportedly on the way in 2023, tying in to the long-delayed Flash solo movie.

No specific LEGO Jurassic World sets are rumoured for 2023 at the moment, but we know the theme will continue – and will also lean into the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park. More retro sets, please and thank you.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings

LEGO The Lord of the Rings will supposedly make a comeback in 2023, but it’s probably not going to go the way you think (or at least, would hope for). 2023 is shaping up to be a weird and wild year for LEGO Star Wars, blending brand new models with ships we haven’t seen in bricks for nearly two decades. That will reportedly all happen within the usual framework of diorama sets, helmets, a Microfighter, a battle pack, minifigure-scale models and more, but the subject matter is what’s really interesting here.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
