LEGO Creator Expert 10270 Bookshop modular set announced

The next LEGO Creator Expert modular building, 10270 Bookshop, has been officially announced.

Fans will be able to expand their modular building street on January 1, when LEGO Creator Expert 10270 Bookshop will be available exclusively at LEGO.com around the world. It will be priced at £149.99 in the UK and $179.99 in the USA.

The 2,504-piece set builds a three-storey bookshop and townhouse inspired by European architecture. It measures 29cm high, 25cm wide and 25cm deep.

Features in the set include a reading book, a toy plane stuck in a tree, a chameleon in the bedroom and plenty more that will be revealed as the model is constructed. Design Master Wes Talbott was inspired by houses found in Amsterdam and his mother’s doll houses.

Recreate the charm of a backstreet bookshop that you might discover in any European village or town with this LEGO Creator Expert collectors’ toy. The 3-story bookshop and adjoining modular town house building is filled with fun building techniques and surprising details, including a display window, reading nook and an open-out design. Collectors will love to display this big 2,504-piece LEGO set proudly alongside their other modular buildings.

Wes Talbott designed the model, given a brief to come up with “a cosy residential building” for the modular series. He was inspired by New York to include the birch tree, with the house and bookshop taking inspiration from locations including the Painted Ladies in San Francisco and the buildings of Amsterdam.

He includes two easter eggs – or three, depending how they are counted – the house number is 107, which is the official number for the teal colour, the shade that the building uses. Two of the minifigures are based on his parents, who are both creatives themselves.

LEGO Creator Expert 10270 Bookshop will be available from January 1.
