LEGO designer starts Easter egg tour for new Harry Potter set

The LEGO designer for Harry Potter 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition is giving us a sneak peek at the Easter eggs and references that can be found within the set.

Marcos Bessa, the designer partially responsible for the upcoming 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition has taken to Twitter to preview the massive model and the many personal references that lies within the pages, potion ingredients and more of the brick-built props.

Hiding clues to their family and friends is nothing new for LEGO designers, and the trend continues in the new Harry Potter build, especially in the potion components. The various dates on the vials each refer to a birthday or otherwise significant date for someone in a designer’s life. There’s even the set number for the very first LEGO Harry Potter set ever released on the Gillyweed – 4701 Sorting Hat.

The second tweet from the designer continues to showcase the remaining references on the ingredient bottles such as the birth date of graphic designer Djordje Djordjevic’s child who was born during the product’s final moments of development.

The potion tray itself is also a reference to a prop that was given little screentime in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, refining the design with a simple ‘H.G’ as opposed to the full name of its owner – Hermione Granger.

LEGO Harry Potter 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition launches on September 2 for £229.99 / $249.99 / €249.99. For more on the set, check out a gallery of images and how the Hedwig model within it compares to the other build of the iconic owl.
