LEGO designer talks history, design, and quirks of 10307 Eiffel Tower
An interview with LEGO Designer Rok Zgalin Kobe, and engineer, architect, historian, and honorary research director at the CNRS Bertrand Lemoine reveals more details about 10307 Eiffel Tower.
The LEGO Group’s tallest set certainly presented some design obstacles for Kobe, which he discussed in more detail in this interview released on the company’s YouTube channel. The video cuts back and forth between the LEGO designer and the historian, highlighting a number of key similarities between the brick-built tower and its real-life counterpart.
From the stability brought by the base to the aesthetics provided by the archways, Kobe dives into every minute decision that went into making 10307 Eiffel Tower. What’s more, he unpicks how a LEGO set makes it to the design table and how several people will all contribute in bringing a LEGO model to life.
“I’m hoping that the people who take on the challenge of building the tallest LEGO set, through the process, will also learn a lot more about the history, the way it was built,” concludes Kobe in the interview.
10307 Eiffel Tower is available to all shoppers from LEGO.com and in physical stores from November 25, for a cost of £554.99 / $629.99 / €629.99.
