LEGO Explorer magazine issue 17 includes free alien spaceship set

The latest issue of the LEGO Explorer magazine includes a free alien spaceship set covermount gift that’s out of this world.

Offering more of an educational slant than Immediate Media’s range of LEGO titles, the latest issue of Story House Egmont’s LEGO Explorer magazine is on sale now. Issue 17 includes all sorts of facts, features and building ideas, this time with a space-based theme. There are also hints and tips from LEGO designers for readers to make their own models, plus a poster of the International Space Station.

The highlight of this month’s magazine is the free LEGO alien spaceship set that’s included as a covermount. It’s a simple model to construct in 11 steps and has a nice retro feel to it that should also appeal to LEGO Explorer’s young demographic. The alien spaceship set was created by Nina Koopmann, LEGO Senior Designer, who gives the magazine’s readers some additional inspiration.

“It’s both great and hard when there is no real vision of the thing you’re making,” says Nina. “It’s great because no one can tell you it’s wrong, but it’s hard because you don’t know if people will recognise what it is! I really love the vibrant coral colour, so I chose to add a splash of it on the grey. Bright colours can really help highlight areas in your model. Don’t be afraid to use them – they really make your model come to life!”

LEGO Explorer magazine is published monthly and priced at £4.99 in the UK. Issue 18 is due on sale March 2 and includes a great LEGO Lion polybag that looks just the sort of set that’s usually reserved for special gift-with-purchase offers available online and in-store.
