LEGO fan site teases 2023 modular building reveal

A LEGO fan site has teased the reveal of next year’s addition to the Modular Buildings Collection – and further clues suggest it could happen as soon as tomorrow.

Consistently one of the most highly-anticipated sets of the year, the annual modular building is usually revealed in late November or early December. In fact, this is the latest we’ve had to wait for the reveal in at least the last five years: both 10270 Bookshop and 10297 Boutique Hotel were unveiled on December 6, while 10278 Police Station was revealed as early as November 27.

LEGO Fan Media Zusammengebaut has now teased the imminent reveal of the next modular building, however, which is rumoured to include a jazz club and pizzeria. The German-language site runs an annual giveaway for the newest modular building, and has just bumped this year’s contest with a note that ‘events will roll over soon’ (translated via Google), followed by a wink emoji.

That suggests a reveal is indeed imminent, and it could be as early as tomorrow: YouTuber Solid Brix Studios has also teased a new video being published this weekend, posting an image of a blurred-out LEGO set box to his Instagram story. There’s nothing to say that’s explicitly linked to the new modular building, but there’s one more clue that may just mean the stars are aligning at last.

2022’s modular building, 10297 Boutique Hotel, celebrates the 15th anniversary of the LEGO Icons subtheme across a number of brick-built and stickered details. One of those is the notice board above the stairs leading up to the terrace, which features a poster for Andy Sax, live at the music hall. The date on that poster reads 12/10, which – in the US – is December 10.

Factor in that next year’s modular building is said to contain a jazz club – the perfect place to host a musician like Andy Sax – and the reveal date for 2023’s modular building may have been right under our noses for the past 12 months.

Nothing here is confirmed yet, of course, so don’t put too much stock in a modular building reveal tomorrow. But given it’s presumably due to launch January 1, as per its predecessors, a full unveiling can’t be too far away now.

Double VIP points are now available across the board at LEGO.com. Head over using one of our affiliate links to earn twice as many points on every purchase through December 13.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Could poster on boutique hotel be telling us that reveal will be on the 12/12 set available on 01/01?
