New LEGO Friends sets compared to the animated 2023 series
With the start of the LEGO Friends 2023 series earlier today, we can compare the latest wave of sets to their animated counterparts.
At least six of the 2023 LEGO Friends models are featured in the 44-minute launch special for the LEGO Friends The Next Chapter animated series and their brick-built and digital depictions are quite close to one another.
As this special is mostly an introduction to the new cast, there aren’t too many spoilers in this list, but here’s the special in case you want to watch it first or to follow along as you read.
We’ll provide screenshots of the relevant scenes for the set comparisons too. Here are six LEGO Friends sets featured in the launch special.
6 – 41731 Heartlake International School
Price: £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 Pieces: 985 Release date: January 1, 2023
The school is featured prominently in the launch special since the story revolves around the cast’s first day at school. However, a good look at the exterior can be found at six minutes into the special, revealing a match to the set, but with a different layout at the entrance.
5 – 41740 Aliya’s Room
Price: £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 Pieces: 209 Release date: January 1, 2023
Though the special visits Autumn and Leo’s houses, only 41740 Aliya’s Room is featured in the special out of the four rooms showcased at two minutes and 55 seconds. Other than the space above the desk, everything from the bed to the greenery on the wall is a match to the set.
4 – 41730 Autumn’s House
Price: £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 Pieces: 853 Release date: January 1, 2023
At around five minutes in, we get a good look at the exterior of Autumn’s House, though the interior is not showcased. The colour scheme and layout both match the set, though the barn is not represented in the model.
3 – 41732 Downtown Flower and Design Stores
Price: £139.99 / $159.99 / €159.99 Pieces: 2,010 Release date: January 1, 2023
Technically, only half of 41732 Downtown Flower and Design Stores is featured in the special. Across from the school sits a row of buildings some mirrored architecture. Two of these buildings have the same design but one has a similar colour scheme with the roof angled in the wrong direction. Still, it offers a good comparison to the new set.
2 – 41729 Organic Grocery Store
Price: £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99 Pieces: 830 Release date: January 1, 2023
Featured twice in the special, 41729 Organic Grocery Store has another odd depiction series with the curved windows on the wrong side and facing the wrong direction. Otherwise, it’s a close match even down to the giant basket above the doors.
1 – 41728 Heartlake Downtown Diner
Price: £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 Pieces: 346 Release date: January 1, 2023
Though there’s no clear shot of the front of 41731 Heartlake Downtown Diner in the launch special, but this building’s striped roof and colour scheme at 26 minutes match the model, justwith a diagonal door instead. However, the giant sandwich has managed to make into the animated version.
