LEGO fulfilment teams may have started 90th anniversary celebrations early

First the Collectors’ Edition Hogwarts Express was sent out early, now a Reddit user gets sent four Birthday sets they didn’t order.

You’re only 90 once, right? So it’s completely understandable that you’d want to celebrate. Maybe have a glass of two of fizz? Crank up the tunes and have a bit of fun at work? It seems that the good ladies and gentlemen of the LEGO Group’s fulfilment centres may have been partying quite hard for their 90th anniversary celebrations.

Only yesterday the official announcement of the new 76405 Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition had to be (presumably) brought forward after one Reddit user ordered the new 10305 Lion Knight’s Castle and got sent the magical train by mistake. The set was still technically a rumour when user LegendofTovon opened a shipping box, expecting to see the new castle but found the train instead.

Meanwhile, another Reddit user, oudlookbeo, had ordered a bundle of small sets, and yet when they opened the crate, the LEGO Group had included not one, but four copies of 40382 Birthday Set. It may not be as impressive as the birthday cake that the LEGO Group treated themselves to – a whirling, spinning, mind-boggling creation that crammed in references to many, many themes, but hey! Free LEGO is free LEGO, right?

With the number of sets that the LEGO Group must dispatch each day, it’s hardly a surprise that mistakes occasionally happen, and despite our poking gentle fun, we’re sure that nobody ships LEGO orders ‘while under the influence’, but we will have our fingers crossed next time we open a shipping box.

Probably the same packer that packed the Hogwart express, hopefully he/she didn’t lose their job.
