LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures topped UK toy sales in August

The best-selling toy line in August was the LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures series.

While the UK toy market is enduring a difficult year, with sales down so far when compared to 2017, the LEGO Group has continued to find success with the Collectible Minifigures blind bags. In August, the Harry Potter series was the best-selling toy in the UK, based on quantity sold.

Facing stiff competition from this year’s runaway toy success story, L.O.L. Surprise!, two regular LEGO Harry Potter sets still managed to make the top ten best-selling toys, taking into account total value sold rather than total quantity sold. 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall and 75955 Hogwarts Express followed the Collectible Minifigures as the LEGO Group’s UK best-sellers for August. It is particularly interesting that the Hogwarts Express was so successful, as that set was originally intended to be a Toys R Us exclusive, suggesting that it has outperformed expectations.

Harry Potter was the most successful LEGO theme by far in August, as the licence, along with L.O.L. Surprise! helped boost toy sales for the month. Of the total Harry Potter product sales across all brands, the LEGO Collectible Minifigures made up almost one third of all sales.
