LEGO Harry Potter sets rumoured to be releasing early

You may be able to get your hands on the new wave of Harry Potter sets sooner than anticipated, according to a Eurobricks user.

Originally destined for release on August 1, the Wizarding World sets – including 75951 Grindelwald’s Escape, 75953 Hogwarts Whomping Willow, 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall, 75955 Hogwarts Express and 75956 Quidditch Match – are now reportedly arriving a month early, on July 1.

The rumour comes from a LEGO store employee in the US, who cites the closure of Toys R Us as the apparent reason for the release date shift. The same employee also states that this change only applies to the boxed Wizarding World sets, and not the rumoured CMF series.

The new wave of sets are the first based on Harry Potter to hit shelves since 2011, so even just a month will make plenty of difference for eager Potterheads. Of course, we’ll just have to wait and see whether this magical rumour turns out to be true. If not, we might have to arrange a special punishment for the one who got our hopes up…

UPDATE: Another Eurobricks user has backed up this rumour, claiming: ‘On 7/1, we’ll get Great Hall, Hogwarts Express, Whomping Willow, and Quidditch, while on 8/1, we’ll get the 2 Fantastic Beasts sets, Aragog, and the CMF line!’ Again, take it with a pinch of salt, but things are looking promising.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is due for release in cinemas on November 16.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
