Record-breaking LEGO Ideas 2021 review results coming tomorrow

The results of the first LEGO Ideas review for 2021 will be announced tomorrow, with a record-breaking 57 projects vying to become an official set.

It’s the most LEGO Ideas projects to reach the 10,000-vote milestone in a single review period to date, and includes a huge variety of potential sets – from licensed adaptations like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Office to original concepts such as Jazz Quartet and The House of Chocolate.

The original list for this review period actually included 58 projects, but Aurelien Franssens’ Stadium Tour was removed from contention because its creator failed to mention that it was based on an intellectual property – namely, German industrial metal band Rammstein’s stage for its postponed European tour.

“When submitting creations based on intellectual properties it is imperative that members follow the guidelines for intellectual properties that we have, including listing whether or not a submission is based on such if that is the case,” the LEGO Ideas team announced at the time.

That still leaves a huge list of projects in the running, however – and we could see any one (or possibly more) of them given the green light to become future LEGO Ideas sets from tomorrow. Here’s the full spread of 10K models in the first 2021 review:

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
