LEGO Ideas 21315 Pop-Up Book designer video released

We’re less than a week away from the launch of LEGO Ideas 21315 Pop-Up Book, and the LEGO Group’s latest designer video has arrived to persuade you to pick it up.

Senior LEGO Designer Wes Talbott and Graphic Designer Crystal Marie Fontan introduce us to the set’s features, revealing how they brought it from Jason Allemann and Grant Davis’s concept to a shelf-ready product. As it turns out, there wasn’t much to do in terms of the set’s basic functions, although the graphics and aesthetics have obviously changed considerably from the all-tan book in the fan-submitted project.

We’ve already taken our own look at 21315 Pop-Up Book, and you can read our verdict here. If you’re anxious to pick it up, you can do so early – and meet Jason and Grant in person – at the Washington Square LEGO Store in Oregon on Saturday.

This is the 23rd set released under the LEGO Ideas/Cuusoo heading since 2011’s 21100 Shinkai 6500 Submarine launched in Japan. The next two sets in the fan-voted theme will be Kevin Feeser’s Treehouse and Andrew Clark’s Flintstones project.

LEGO Ideas 21315 Pop-up Book will be available at shop.LEGO.com from November 1. Other LEGO Ideas sets are available now, with double VIP points available for the rest of October.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
