LEGO Ideas 40335 Space Rocket Ride comparison video

The fan design of LEGO Ideas 40335 Space Rocket Ride has produced a video comparing the finished set to his original submission.

On June 5, fans will be able to get LEGO Ideas 40335 Space Rocket Ride free with any order at shop.LEGO.com totalling £85 or more – it is a limited time promotion, ending on June 18. What is special about this particular gift with purchase model is that it was inspired by a LEGO fan.

Last year, the LEGO Group asked fans to submit product ideas to the Moments in Space contest, with Mark Smiley’s submission winning the grand prize and becoming an official LEGO set. In this video, he has compared the finished set to his original project.

The set depicts a small coin operated ride themed as a rocket, with a delighted minifigure enjoying himself. Mark explains in the video that the finished model is slightrly longer than his original design, and highlights some other differences: “LEGO has also updated the mechanism for the motion … they have taken another different approach with a slightly more sophisticated design, that gives you is a little bit more of a smooth motion.”
