LEGO Ideas Adventure Time set officially unveiled

Product news is coming thick and fast at the moment. After yesterday’s unveiling of the latest Marvel Super Heroes exclusive minifigure, the next licensed LEGO Ideas project has been officially revealed by the LEGO Group ahead of San Diego Comic-Con 2016.

The first image of 21308 Adventure Time was posted on Instagram earlier this afternoon, with Con attendees set to be the first group to see the set in the plastic next weekend.

The final product is noticeably changed from the original Ideas submission by aBetterMonkey, with only eight brick-built characters included instead of the proposed 15. The builds also appear to differ significantly, with some neat part usages like BMO’s black sausages for arms, and added detail through stickers (or prints).

UPDATE: The LEGO Ideas blog has since revealed full details of the set, which is due out January 1, 2017, priced at $49.99 and contains 495 pieces.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Wow I actually think these builds are much stronger than the original idea. And they will all be prints as IDEAS sets don’t use stickers 😀
