LEGO Ideas announces the winner of the 150th BrickHeadz fan vote

LEGO Ideas has announced the winning theme of its fan vote to determine the 150th BrickHeadz character.

The poll ran for a week from late November to early December, with four options on the table: Star Wars, Jaws, Minecraft and Lilo & Stitch. Approximately 13,000 people have made their voice heard, LEGO Ideas has tallied the votes, and the results are in.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Star Wars has come out on top, fending off competition from two brand new LEGO licences in Jaws and Lilo & Stitch. Minecraft would also have been a first for the BrickHeadz theme, which means the winning IP is the only one with previous form in the collectable statuettes.

The Ideas team hasn’t shared how many people voted for Star Wars specifically, the character we can expect, or even when it might launch. All we know is that the 150th BrickHeadz character will be plucked from the Star Wars franchise, like so many before it. Here’s hoping for something very special.

According to recent rumours, new LEGO BrickHeadz for 2021 will include 40476 Daisy Duck and 40477 Scrooge McDuck with Huey, Duey & Louie. They’ll join 40466 Chinese New Year Pandas, 40440 German Shepherd and 40441 Shorthair Cats in next year’s line-up.

21324 123 Sesame Street is the latest model to come from the LEGO Ideas platform. Next year it will be joined by The Earth Globe and Legendary Stratocaster.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

What about 41612? I was sure that Minecraft had a Brickheadz release already! Shame Star Wars won when there have been so many releases in Brickheadz form from that IP already. It would have been nice to see something different for once.
