LEGO Ideas projects mysteriously “archived”

Two projects that reached 10,000 supporters at LEGO Ideas will not go through to review, with no public explanation.

A strange situation has been spotted at LEGO Ideas, which has been picked up by the Brick Fan. Gravity Falls Mystery Shack and Japanese Tea Garden both reached the 10,000 vote milestone, but rather than going forward to review have been “archived”.

Here is the official statement that is listed on the respective product idea pages:

Regretfully, we have chosen to archive your project and no longer consider it for production for reasons communicated to you privately. Your project will remain visible on LEGO Ideas, but in a status where it can no longer be supported or commented on. This way fans can still admire your creation.

Unless the creators of the product ideas choose to share the reason they have been given by the LEGO Group, fans will have to continue to wonder why these projects could not have been carried forward for consideration. As the Brick Fan points out, those creators may have had to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) that prevent them from sharing their discussion with the LEGO Ideas team.

The LEGO Group recently announced LEGO Ideas Friends 21319 Central Perk, which will be available to buy from September 1.
