LEGO Ideas second 2020 review results coming later today

The results of the second LEGO Ideas review of 2020 will be revealed later today, along with an update on the fate of Viv Grannell’s Sonic Mania.

A record 35 projects are under consideration in this review, so the Ideas team will have had its work cut out whittling it down. Of course, there’s no guarantee that any of the models from this round will have been approved, but you have to imagine that at least one will have made the cut from such a long list. We’ll find out for sure at 2pm UK time.

The Ideas team has also confirmed we’ll find out where the company stands on Sonic Mania. Viv Grannell’s video game project was originally part of the first 2020 review, but while The Earth Globe was given the green light at the first time of asking, everyone’s favourite blue hedgehog has been under prolonged consideration.

Here’s the full lists of projects on the table in the second 2020 review, one or more of which may be approved for production later this afternoon:

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
