LEGO 40478 Mini Disney Castle offers a smaller slice of Magic Kingdom from today

If you’re after an affordable way to display a slice of Magic Kingdom in your own home, LEGO 40478 Mini Disney Castle is now available to purchase online and in-store.

The 567-piece model comes in at roughly 10% of the price of 71040 The Disney Castle, which has recently passed into its sixth year on shelves. If you don’t have the space or budget for that enormous 4,080-piece set, though, 40478 Mini Disney Castle is basically the perfect alternative.

It’s also a more up-to-date recreation of the real-life castle, which was repainted in 2020 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Cinderella. That’s reflected in the model’s bright blue and gold highlights, which shine on a shelf next to 71040 The Disney Castle’s comparatively dull dark blue and tan.

There’s also a hidden Easter egg to find in 40478 Mini Disney Castle (spoiler alert!), which is just one more reason to make a beeline for the microscale model among all the other October releases arriving on shelves today. For a closer look at what to expect from the set, including its exclusive Mickey Mouse minifigure, check out our in-depth review.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
