LEGO NINJAGO writer clarifies Dragons Rising is ‘not a season title’
A lead writer on the latest LEGO NINJAGO TV series has clarified that Dragons Rising is ‘not a season title’ – but something much bigger.
The first poster for the revamped NINJAGO TV show emerged in full yesterday, following a fragmented reveal across the past week. And front and centre on that poster are the words ‘Dragons Rising’, suggesting that will be the title for the next season of LEGO NINJAGO – which will see the storyline get a soft reboot following last summer’s Crystalized.

NINJAGO lead writer Chris Wyatt has now clarified via Twitter that Dragons Rising is actually a series title rather than a season title, dividing the wider NINJAGO storyline into two main eras. The series title for the show’s first 10 seasons was NINJAGO: Masters of Spinjitzu, while from Season 11 onwards it was known simply as ‘NINJAGO’.
Season 16 will now kickstart a brand new NINJAGO saga titled Dragons Rising, though a specific season title – such as Season 10’s March of the Oni or Season 14’s Seabound – has yet to be confirmed. That means we still don’t know the focus of the new season, but the first poster features at least four new characters: a small dragon, a character with cat ears on their hood, a wolf-like minifigure and a golden ninja with horns on their mask.
What we do know for sure is that Dragons Rising actually refers to a multi-season arc rather than a single season of content, so we’ve presumably got years of new LEGO NINJAGO dragons to look forward to. As if it was going to be any other way…

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
