LEGO prepares to open carbon-neutral factory in Vietnam

The LEGO Group employees at its first carbon-neutral factory in Vietnam got together for the very first time.

At the end of 2021, the LEGO Group revealed that their first carbon-neutral factory would be coming to Vietnam in 2024, as construction on the $1 billion project began in November 2022. Now, employees are beginning to come together, as the LEGO Group organises its first team day for those working at the facility.

“Colleagues who play together, stay together,” the LEGO Group wrote on LinkedIn. “Our new team at LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam recently got together for the first time for a playful team day on Vietnam’s beautiful ‘Pearl Island’.”

The video, available to watch above, shows employees playing beach games and working together on team exercises. These employees will go on to work at the company’s first carbon-neutral factory site. Other environmentally-focused initiatives include planting 50,000 trees to compensate for the building impact and partnering with local schools for positive social impact.

“A key reason for locating our new factory in Vietnam was the strong support from the Vietnamese government when it comes to our environmental sustainability agenda, and we look forward to their continued support during the construction phase,” said Preben Elnef, Vice President and Program Lead for the LEGO Group in Vietnam.
