In one of the smaller The LEGO Batman Movie offerings, a classic villain is putting a scheme in place. Can the Scarecrow scare the small part count into offering something worth picking up? Price: £19.99 / $19.99 / 24.99€  Pieces: 204 Available: Available Now This set is based on the opening action scene from The LEGO Batman Movie, offering a small section of the Gotham Energy plant. I really want to love this set, and I almost do – the LEGO Group nearly hit it out of the park with this one. Unfortunately, 70910 Scarecrow Special Delivery spoils an amazing pair of models by dropping the proverbial minifigure ball. The end result is a set which is good, but could have been great. The Highs First and foremost, we must all stop and appreciate the amazing build that is the guard shack. This structure would not look out of place adjacent to a modular building, which is about the highest level of praise I can give a city based build. The colour combination, level of detail, and perfect use of stickers left me in a level of awe that I almost never have with these smaller sets. Not to be outdone, we are also gifted with one of the best, if not the best, pizza delivery vehicles ever produced by the LEGO design team. Wonderfully, it is not adorned with anything that makes it specific to the Scarecrow which means it can be re-used in any CITY display or MOC. I would love to build a modular building with Luigie’s Pizzeria housed in the bottom floor. The Lows My high comes down a couple of pegs however, upon confronting the minifigures. I understand that Batman needs to be here. It is after all his movie and I am not complaining, having recently been enjoying turning Collectible Minifigures into Batsuits by using the many extra cowls I now have. This guy is quickly going to be scavenged. I can also forgive the security guard, while boring and generic like the one included in 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack, his presence makes sense. The great sin of this set is Scarecrow himself. Where is his alternate headgear? I can appreciate the focus on safety leading to him wearing a helmet but is it too much to ask that he have his signature hat included as well? The enormity of the omission becomes all the more glaring when one surveys 76054 Scarecrow Harvest of Fear – that is what should be on Scarecrow’s head. Conclusion Poor thinking on the minfigure side of the equation aside, the designers did a pretty great job on the rest of this set. Adding to its value, 70910 can be joined to the structures included with 70900 The Joker Balloon Escape and 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack. Based primarily on the fact that those three sets become something much greater than the sum of their parts, I would recommend this set to add to them. However, if you are looking for a good Scarecrow minifigure, pick up 76054 and pass on this one. 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack is available now from shop.LEGO.com.
