LEGO Star Wars 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina: Meet the characters

Brick Fanatics introduces the scum and villainy who frequent LEGO Star Wars 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina

“Mos Eisley Spaceport. Never will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy,” Obi-Wan warns Luke Skywalker as they overlook the spaceport town. He is proven right when they arrive at the cantina, with Ponda Baba and Dr Evazan illustrating why it’s a place where farmboys should tread carefully.

LEGO Star Wars 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina introduces a bigger selection of cantina aliens than ever before, with 21 characters included in the Master Builder Series set. Brick Fanatics takes a look at the more obscure characters appearing in the set…

Wuher

The Mos Eisley Cantina’s bartender, Wuher is no fan of droids, having gone to the trouble of installing a droid detector. While not the friendliest of characters, he is an expert when it comes to mixing drinks – perhaps explaining why the cantina is so busy.

Wuher appeared as a minifigure for the first time in 75205 Mos Eisley Cantina.

Labria

Known as Kardue’sai’Malloc before taking up the identity Labria, the former army general spent years hiding out on Tatooine after fleeing the military on Devaronia. The horned humanoid is a Devaronian, a species distrusted across the galaxy through being known as swindlers and cheats. Labria

75290 Mos Eisley Cantina marks the first time the character has appeared as a minifigure.

Garindan

Before being given a more in-universe name, Garindan was referred to as Long-Snoot, because of his long snoot. He spotted Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan with the droids in Mos Eisley and sold the information to the Empire, leading to the Millennium Falcon being pursued as it left Docking Bay 94.

A brand new head piece has been developed for this minifigure.

Greedo

A bounty hunter working in the employ of Jabba the Hutt, Greedo’s early life was spent in the city of Mos Espa. Despite his father being a great warrior, Greedo was not so proficient, meeting an untimely end when he confronts Han Solo in Chalmun’s Cantina.

Three different versions of Greedo have appeared across four sets. This version was introduced in 75205 Mos Eisley Cantina.

Ponda Baba

Short tempered and employed as a heavy, Ponda Baba became friends with Dr Evazan after rescuing the medical genius from a bounty hunter. The pair were on Jeddah shortly before travelling to Tatooine, where they went for a drink at the Mos Eisley Cantina. It didn’t work out well for Ponda Baba.

Early toys referred to Ponda Baba as Walrus Man.

Dr Evazan

His first name is Cornelius, so Dr Evazan got off slightly better than Palpatine. This outlawed ‘doctor’ performed surgery on his victims, leaving them disfigured and sometimes dead. He partnered up with Ponda Baba, transting for his friend when he took a dislike to Luke Skywalker.

Dr Evazan makes his minifigure debut in 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina.

Kabe

Kabe is a Chadra-Fan and lived with Muftak in maintenance tunnels underneath the cantina. Her small size made her an adept thief, using the proceeds to buy drinks from Wuher and Ackmena.

Kabe uses short legs and a re-coloured ear element to capture her unique look.

Momaw Nadon

An Ithorian, Momaw Nadon was exiled on Tatooine after aiding the Empire in order to save his homeworld. To recreate something of his people on the arid planet, he tended to a secret garden.

75190 Mos Eisley Cantina marks the character’s LEGO minifigure debut.

Hrchek Kal Fas

A Saurin from Durkteel, Hrchek Kal Fas took up life as a droid trader on Tatooine.

This obscure character didn’t have a name for decades, eventually getting one in 2018.

The Modal Nodes

Figrin D’an’s band featured seven Bith musicians, each playing a different instrument. While on Tatooine, they were under contract with Jabba the Hutt, and played at his palace as well as Chalmun’s Cantina.

Three members of the band were included in 75052 Mos Eisley Cantina.
