Imperial Star Destroyer is rumoured to be coming later this year – and it’ll reportedly be free with a qualifying spend at .

That means it won’t be quite as large as the last one, 2019’s

, which weighed in at 4,784 pieces for £649.99 / $699.99 / €699.99 (just imagine the order threshold to take that home).

Instead, Instagram user @exabrickslegogo_ reports that the new promo set will consist of 369 pieces, and comes packed with a single Imperial Officer minifigure. That still seems like a pretty hefty part count for a free set, though, so if it does come to pass, it’s safe to expect a required spend of roughly £150 / $150 / €150.

8099 Midi scale Imperial Star Destroyer

There’s no word yet on when exactly we can expect to see this new Star Destroyer arrive at

, but history tells us it should launch in either May or October, alongside whatever direct-to-consumer sets the

team has cooked up for 2021.

If rumours of a new Ultimate Collector Series Death Star are to be believed, though, a midi-scale Star Destroyer (akin to the one pictured above, which launched in 2010) would make a pretty fitting tie-in gift…

For now, take any word on a new Star Destroyer with a heavy pinch of salt – at least until confirmed otherwise by the

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
