LEGO Star Wars ships glide along your shelves with this display trick
Display your LEGO Star Wars sets with authentic-looking angles using this nifty display trick that doesn’t cost the earth.
Finding new ways to display your LEGO sets can breathe new life into well-loved builds, but sometimes inspiration might run dry. Many LEGO stands and display kits can easily cost almost as much as some sets — but one technique we spotted on Reddit is both impressive and budget-friendly.
u/ConfidentNewspaper18 shared a picture of 75172 Y-Wing Starfighter, balanced on top of the end of a Coke bottle. The ridged bottom of the bottle that helps the drink stay upright has a second purpose here, offering grooves for LEGO ships to slot in and sit at an angle.
“I never really see anyone else doing it, but I think it acts as a pretty good stand for ships without landing gear, it lets you place them at nice angles too if you’re careful,” they wrote in the comments. “I’ve used them on a few different sets, the Y-Wing obviously but also the Gungan Sub, Malevolence and the Sith Fury Class Interceptor.”
It would only really suit smaller ships, being far too compact to support LEGO sets the size of 75331 The Razor Crest or 75192 Millennium Falcon. Luckily, sets of that scale usually come with their own landing gear or stand to support them for displays.
For smaller builds like 75172, a transparent bottle end is a great way to reuse something you already have around your house for an effective look. The clear plastic means it won’t be obtrusive among a wider display.
