LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tops UK Sales Charts

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has made a strong start for TT Games and Warner Bros. Games, debuting at #1 in the UK sales chart. That solidifies it as the fourth bestselling launch in TT Games’ extensive library, behind the releases of only LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO Batman.

That those games were all the first of their respective franchises, and two were released quite early on in the pantheon of LEGO games, speaks to the strengths of The Force Awakens – which is not only the 21st full TT LEGO title, but the third Star Wars sequel since the original in 2005. Clearly, the popularity of the franchise and the film itself, which was released late last year to critical acclaim, has contributed to the game’s success, but as Brick Fanatics’ own review observed, it’s also a fantastic game in its own right.

The full UK sales chart for the week ending July 2 can be found below. This doesn’t include digital sales, so is arguably unrepresentative of the entire gaming market, but for physical copies, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens surely rules the roost.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
