LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will include unique ridable creatures
The upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will include a whole menagerie of unique and ridable creatures waiting to be discovered.
A huge amount of new information about LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was revealed at IGN Fan Fest yesterday. Thanks to both a Developer Diary video and an interview with director of production, Jonathan Smith, more details have emerged about what went into the game and what fans can expect to see when playing the title.
One of the many interesting aspects of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga that was mentioned was the inclusion of a number of unique and ridable creatures. Whilst many characters, ships, vehicles and locations in the game are based on previous LEGO sets, the team had to build many new creatures from the ground up.
When faced with the challenge of creating creatures that didn’t exist as physical LEGO models, the team had to design them from scratch. To do that they referred to film reference and took existing LEGO creatures and characters that were similar, combining them to make something new, but still something that looked like it belonged in the LEGO Star Wars universe.
Newly-created creatures shown in the Developer Diary include a Bantha, Ronto, Orbak, Woolamander (from the moon of Yavin 4) and snake-like Vexis. One example of how the TT Games team was able to adapt existing LEGO pieces to build something new was revealed in a design for a Rathtar, which uses pieces found in the Jurassic World gyrosphere model.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be unleashed on the galaxy on April 5 and there’s still time to pre-order the game with the help of our handy guide.
