LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga skips the Future Games Show

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga failed to materialise at last night’s Future Games Show, which means we’re still completely in the dark over its release date.

At this stage, we’re genuinely beginning to wonder whether Warner Bros. and TT Games have actually just been cooking up a huge practical joke this entire time. How many other games do you know that have hit their launch window without any indication of when they’ll actually drop?

None come to mind for us, but that’s exactly the situation the long-awaited sequel finds itself in. Back in August, Warner Bros. announced that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga wouldn’t meet its planned 2020 release, and would instead launch in spring 2021.

Well, spring is here, but LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga definitely isn’t. In fact, we’ve heard basically nothing on the game (beyond a few crumbs from a magazine interview) since Gamescom last year – so it’s no wonder so many fans were holding out hope that the title would appear in GamesRadar’s Future Games Show last night.

Warner Bros. did make an appearance as scheduled, but only to show off its (also-delayed) survival horror game Back 4 Blood. (Cue waves of disappointment.) The silence from the publisher over LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is deafening at this point, so we can only hope it throws us a bone soon – even if that bone is yet another delay, because we just can’t take this uncertainty anymore.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
