LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship reveal coming soon?

We’re now firmly in mid-summer – so could a full reveal of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship be on the cards later this month?

We already know that the first Ultimate Collector Series set inspired by the Star Wars prequel trilogy since 2010 – as voted for by fans in a 2020 poll – will hit shelves in 2021. But at this year’s LEGO Fan Media event, the LEGO Star Wars design team told Brick Fanatics that we’d hear more on the Republic Gunship in ‘mid-summer’, suggesting a reveal could be just around the corner.

Little is known about the Republic Gunship at the moment, but rumours suggest it will come in at a not-insignificant $349.99. And based on its new cockpit element – which was shown off during a roundtable session in March – the length of the gunship is thought to stand at around 50-55cm, which definitely conjures up images of a set to match that price tag.

The LEGO Star Wars design team has also indicated that fan-favourite character Jedi Bob won’t be among the set’s minifigure line-up, so don’t hold your breath if you’re hoping to see 7163 Republic Gunship’s generic, smiley Jedi make a comeback.

Keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for the latest on the UCS Republic Gunship, which is rumoured to carry the product number 75309. A third direct-to-consumer LEGO Star Wars model (following the Gunship and May the Fourth’s 75308 R2-D2) will reportedly arrive later this year, and may take the form of a huge, $800 AT-AT.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
