LEGO Store Orlando celebrates 90 years of Mickey Mouse

Disney are celebrating the 60th birthday of Mickey Mouse on November 18, and the LEGO Store at Disney Springs is getting involved.

On November 18, Disney will be celebrating 90 years of the brand’s most iconic character, Mickey Mouse. Commemorative merchandise will be available, events will be taking place and the Disney theme parks will be marking the occasion.

In Disney Springs, Orlando, Florida, the LEGO Store will be construction a Mickey Mouse mural to celebrate the milestone, WDW News reports. Other special activity includes exclusive products at stores such as UNIQLO and one-off food treats such as the Started with a Mouse cake at Amorette’s Patisserie.

Back in 1928, the character first arrived on the screen in Steamboat Willie, since then having gone on to become the mascot for Disney. Appearing in countless animated shorts, as part of many theme park attractions and on innumerable t-shirts, Mickey Mouse is a cultural figure like few others.

Recently, 41624 Mickey Mouse and 41625 Minnie Mouse were released in the LEGO BrickHeadz theme, allowing fans a little too old for DUPLO to be able to enjoy the most iconic Disney characters of them all. The duo can also be found in 71040 Disney Castle.
Fans of both LEGO and Disney are hoping that Steamboat Willie proves successful in the next LEGO Ideas review – and it would certainly be topical, given the character’s birthday celebrations.
