LEGO and Taylor Swift become lovers in mega musical Ideas review
Another LEGO Ideas project based on Taylor Swift’s Lover music video has rocketed to 10,000 votes, joining an increasingly musical review phase.
The second submission specifically based on the Lover House – so-called for appearing in the music video for Taylor Swift’s 2019 hit Lover – to reach 10K on LEGO Ideas, Lucy33’s 2,460-piece build charts Swift’s entire discography to date. Each of the house’s rooms represents a different record, complete with a unique minifigure of the singer from each of her different eras.
“I wanted enough detail in the set for it to appeal to Taylor Swift fans and also interest a wider range of LEGO fans too,” the builder explained on the project page. “The set can be displayed but also has a removable roof and open front for easy playability.”
Originally submitted to the crowdsourcing platform in December 2022, the digitally-designed model has taken roughly four and a half months to rack up the necessary support to progress to the review stage. Its fate may already be sealed, however, by FrillyBadger084’s Lover House, which raced to the third 2022 review in under 48 hours back in November – and is currently being evaluated by the LEGO Ideas team.
While that proposal doesn’t include minifigures, it takes a similar approach to the source material, dividing the house up to represent Swift’s entire career. If the LEGO Ideas team choose to follow up 21339 BTS Dynamite with another music video-inspired model – and specifically one based on Taylor Swift – you’d imagine they would go with FrillyBadger084’s design simply for being first past the post.
That said, timing is everything on LEGO Ideas, so it’s hard to say for sure. What’s also worth considering is that the first 2023 review contains a record number of projects, so there will be plenty more potential sets vying to go beyond their fan designs and into production as official sets. And among those are already a number of projects inspired by artists including Harry Styles, BLACKPINK and One Direction.
We’ll find out whether this particular Lover House has made the cut likely around October, but the LEGO Group will first deliver its verdict on FrillyBadger084’s design this summer. That’s probably too late to still have the Christmas lights up…
