Phew: the new LEGO Technic Bulldozer is no longer retired in Australia
Just hours after it was mysteriously labelled as a ‘retired product’ in Australia, LEGO Technic 42131 App-Controlled CAT D11 Bulldozer is back.
Well, at least in the sense that it’s no longer retired: you still can’t order the A$749.99 set down under, because it’s now listed as ‘temporarily out of stock’. That’s still better than being permanently sold out, though, and suggests the model will one day be available to purchase again.
According to the LEGO Engagement Team, the ‘retired product’ label was simply added in error while the company’s backend team updated the product page. The older version of the set was phased out – and thus retired – without the new version going live.
The Engagement Team hasn’t specified the exact difference between the previous and latest versions of 42131 App-Controlled CAT D11 Bulldozer, but examples of version changes for other products include minor edits to packaging and instructions – or even to the model. Given this error only happened in Australia, the likeliest scenario would probably relate to region-specific packaging.
If you can’t wait for the 3,854-piece set to come back in stock at LEGO.com in Australia, you can currently snag it through Zavvi for a cool A$100 off. That brings the asking price down to just A$649.99, which is a pretty good deal for a set that’s only just launched – especially as it also includes four motors and a CONTROL+ hub.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
