LEGO Technic has collaborated with Universal Brand Development to develop the first ever set based on Fast & Furious, 42111 Dom’s Dodge Charger – and it is available to pre-order now. The 1,077 piece set builds Dominic Toretto’s legendary 1970 Dodge Charger R/T in 1:13 scale. It was announced at International Toy Fair, after word of the set first arrived via Brick Fanatics back in December.
The set should be coinciding with the release of Fast & Furious 9, titled F9: The Fast Saga in the USA, but due to the restrictions in place to combat the spread of coronavirus, the movie’s release has been delayed to 2021.
According to the LEGO Group’s announcement, the model is capable of ‘cool stunts’ to recreate some memorable moments from the high-octane movie franchise. It is priced at £99.99 in the UK and $99.99 in the USA.
Here is the official description shared by the LEGO Group:
The authentic replica of Dom’s all-time favourite car is packed with the same realistic details seen in the films. Just like the full-size version, the hood of the LEGO Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger pops open to reveal the iconic V8 engine. Fans can feel like they’re in the garage with Dom fixing up his latest project as they build moving pistons, double wishbone suspension, a wheelie bar to show off the car’s best moves and (of course) put the nitro bottles in the trunk. If things get too hot, there’s a fire extinguisher in the cockpit too.
“The high-octane action of the Fast & Furious franchise has captured the hearts and imaginations of petrol-heads the world over,” says LEGO Designer Samuel Tacchi. “We want to inspire people of all ages to explore their creativity through building whatever their passion is, and we know fans of LEGO Technic and the blockbuster franchise love cool cars and adrenaline-fuelled fun. Brought together by that same passion, we worked really closely with the Universal team to bring Dom’s Dodge Charger to life in the most minute detail to inspire Fast & Furious fans and LEGO Technic builders around the world.”
