LEGO casts a vanishing spell on Harry Potter 71043 Hogwarts Castle

The LEGO Group has waved its wand and cast Evanesco on 71043 Hogwarts Castle, which is no longer available to purchase in the UK and Europe.

The 6,020-piece microscale rendition of the school of witchcraft and wizardry – the largest Harry Potter set to date by brick count – has shifted to ‘temporarily out of stock’ status at LEGO.com. That’s bad news for anyone hoping to pick it up with double VIP points across the upcoming LEGO VIP Weekend, particularly as it would have qualified for both gifts-with-purchase.

Of course, 71043 Hogwarts Castle could yet return ahead of Saturday, November 20, and it’s still available to purchase (albeit on back order) in the US. If you’re particularly keen to add it to your collection on this side of the pond, sign up to our stock alerts and we’ll let you know when it’s back – hopefully before or during this weekend.

For now, you can still grab the other two LEGO Harry Potter direct-to-consumer sets, both of which are equally worth your time. 75978 Diagon Alley and 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition each present a very different type of model to 71043 Hogwarts Castle, so whether you’re after a playset or display model, you can’t really go wrong.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
