LEGOLAND confirms injured guests from roller-coaster crash have been discharged from hospital

LEGOLAND Germany has confirmed that injured guests from the roller-coaster crash have been discharged from hospital and the ride remains closed.

On August 11, 2022, one coaster train on the Fire Dragon attraction stopped in the ride’s station, and a second train ‘did not stop completely for until now unknown reasons and made impact’, as stated by LEGOLAND Germany. As a result of the incident, 31 of the 38 guests on the ride were injured with 14 being taken to hospital.

Following this, LEGOLAND Deutschland managing director Manuela Stone has announced that these guests have been discharged from hospital and provided an update on the operations of the park. Note that the following statement has been translated.

“After Thursday’s incident on the Fire Dragon Coaster, I’m glad to be able to confirm that all guests that were taken to hospital suffered only minor injuries and could already be released again on Thursday evening,” stated Manuela Stone. “We would like to thank these guests for their support and patience yesterday.”

“The Land of Knights, the area in which the ride is located, remains closed due to the investigations taking place there today, August 12, 2022. Starting August 13, 2022, the area will open again, the fire dragon roller coaster and the Ritterschmaus snack bar remain closed until further notice. Since August 11, a full and thorough investigation of the incident is in progress. Of course, we support the investigating authorities in these investigations.”
