Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli animated short now streaming on Disney+

Following a mysterious tease, Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli have now revealed an all-new animated short currently streaming on Disney+.

Yesterday, Studio Ghibli posted a short video on its official Twitter account which hinted that the company would be joining forces with Lucasfilm on an upcoming project. No additional details were given at that stage, but now the curtain has been pulled back and we know exactly what the two creative powerhouses have been up to.

Streaming from today on Disney+ is Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies, a three minute hand-drawn animated short that dropped in honour of the third anniversary of The Mandalorian. A firm fan-favourite amongst even the most jaded of fans, Grogu has since gone on to appear in six LEGO Star Wars sets to date, including 75331 The Razor Crest, 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter and in full festive form in 75307 Star Wars Advent Calendar.

Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies is directed by Katsuya Kondo, known for his work on such Studio Ghibli films as Kiki’s Delivery Service and Ocean Waves. The animated short also includes music by Ludwig Göransson, the award-winning composer of The Mandalorian series, including its memorable title theme.
