Mario voice actor gifted huge LEGO Super Mario set

The voice actor for many characters from the Super Mario franchise, including the titular plumber, has been gifted a huge set from the LEGO Group.

Anyone who has played a Super Mario title has likely heard the voice of Charles Martinet, who provides the sounds and personality for Mario, Luigi, Wario and Waluigi in modern games from the popular Nintendo property.

The LEGO Group has seen fit to recognise the work that the voice actor has done and sent him a copy of the relatively recent 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block released in October 2021. Super Mario 64 was one of the first titles in the franchise that Charles Martinet voiced the plumber in, explaining why the model was sent to him.

Featuring 2,064 elements, the LEGO Super Mario set recreates a selection of levels from the 1996 title at a smaller scale, all packed in a recognisable icon of the franchise. Although the Question Mark Block never appeared in the game, we were still left impressed by 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block in our review.

Charles Martinet will be back in currently unknown cameos as part of the Super Mario movie, where the plumber will instead be voiced by Chris Pratt.

The latest wave of LEGO Super Mario is available now, with two collections of models based on the beach and a haunted mansion. We’ve reviewed most of the models including 71400 Big Urchin Beach Ride Expansion Set.
