Marvel’s revised release dates could affect potential LEGO sets

Two upcoming Marvel movies have had their release dates swapped around, which could affect when rumoured LEGO sets may appear.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, new TV shows and movies are being added each year. Most recently this has included Moon Knight on Disney+, with Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness out now, Thor: Love and Thunder arriving July 8 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11.

Beyond those 2022 titles, Marvel Studios has announced that two major upcoming movies will be swapping release dates next year. The Marvels was set for February 17, 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania due out on July 28, 2023. Both films have now traded their release dates, with the third Ant-Man film being the first out of the gate.

According to the studio, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is further along in its production schedule than the Captain Marvel sequel, therefore necessitating the switch. It’s not yet known how the shift will affect the upcoming Ms. Marvel series due to start streaming on Disney+ on June 8 or a number of recently-rumoured LEGO Marvel sets.

The LEGO Group may reportedly be retiring its ‘Infinity Saga’ branding, but there are still plenty of LEGO Marvel sets arriving over the next 12 months including 76217 I Am Groot and 76216 Iron Man Armoury on June 1. Recent online listings have hinted at more potential LEGO Marvel sets due for release later this year and it’s possible that any of those rumoured products may have tied in directly with either Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania or The Marvels.

At this stage it’s not yet known how the last-minute swap of movie release dates may affect any upcoming LEGO Marvel sets (if at all), although toy companies often work years ahead of a film’s debut. Note that the LEGO Group has yet to confirm any Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania or The Marvels sets so far.
