Middle East’s biggest ever LEGO festival coming to Dubai

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Dubai Shopping Festival, the largest ever LEGO event in the Middle East is coming to Dubai.

From January 8 until March 14, Dubai Festival City Mall and LEGO Middle East will bring the Middle East’s largest ever LEGO festival to the venue.

A LEGO NINJAGO themed IMAGINE show will launch the event on January 8, which will see the ninjas battle against the powerful evil sorceress Aspheera. The show will combine lasers, light, fire and water to tell the story. On the opening night, a fireworks display will follow the show.

Seven LEGO zones will encourage guests to get hands-on, with topics including DUPLO, NINJAGO, Technic, Architecture, Shadow Runner and Jungle. Activities will include building a life-sized sculpture, trains, snowmen, fire engines or a Burj Khalifa model.

As well as the building, children will be able to get active in the NINJAGO zone, overcoming physical obstacles. The Shadow Runner zone will see participants race a minifigure using augmented reality technology. The Jungle zone will see life-sized brick-built animals on display including elephants, gorillas, meerkats and snakes. In the Technic zone, there will be an engineering challenge and race track.

“Given the importance of the 25th Anniversary of Dubai Shopping Festival we wanted to bring forward something bigger than ever to celebrate this momentous occasion,” says Steven Cleaver, Director, Shopping Centers Dubai, Al-Futtaim Malls. “We are confident that launching the Middle East’s largest LEGO Festival will bring an unrivalled experience to our visitors with its fun-packed activities and the thrilling new LEGO Ninjago-themed IMAGINE show. LEGO is one of the most popular global brands that resonates with both children and adults and a key driver to why we decided to bring this phenomenal festival to Dubai on this occasion.”

“We have created the seven unique zones at the Festival to build genuine connections with visitors through engaging and interactive experiences inspired by their favourite LEGO brands and characters,” says Urszula Bieganska, Head of Marketing, LEGO Middle East & Africa. “We’ve tailor-made the festival activities and created a special journey with the aim of ensuring everyone, no matter what age, has an incredible time. Fans of our popular Ninjago characters will enjoy seeing them come to life for the first time through the impressive record-breaking IMAGINE projection that embraces the power of fire, laser and light.”
