Images of new Monkie Kid and Chinese New Year LEGO sets appear online

Blogger reveals images of new LEGO Chinese New Year and Monkie Kid sets emerge from Chinese International Import Expo.

Images of new sets from both the LEGO Chinese New Year and Monkie Kid themes have appeared online after a blogger attended the CIIE, or Chinese International Import Expo. 1414falconfan has picked up the images from blogger DylanChow’s instagram account and they seem to show a number of sets across both themes.

While some images show set numbers, we’re afraid that our Chinese language skills leave something to be desired at Brick Fanatics HQ, so we’re going to have to wait to see what the sets are actually called.

The New Year sets seem to comprise of a pair of wall plaques, with set number 80110, one featuring flowers and the other having brightly coloured fish, possibly Koi carp. Each plaque has a wealth of detail on it. Another set, numbered 40648, seems to be a tree with lanterns and the traditional red envelopes that are given at New Year.

The last image seems to show a number of floats for a parade, with the first having a large rabbit, which would make sense, given that 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. The display shows set number 80111, but whether the set consists off all three floats, or whether they are three separate sets isn’t clear.

Meanwhile, the Monkie Kid sets would appear to be a large Samurai-style mech wielding fearsome-looking weapons and surrounded by a number of minifigures which emphasise the huge scale of the mech. The mech is labelled as set number 80045.

Keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for more news on these sets in the coming days.
