More details emerge about LEGO Harry Potter 76405 Hogwarts Express
A large chunk of information has recently come out regarding the rumoured LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express set, which represents a significant leap in detail over previous versions.
The LEGO Harry Potter theme has been around for over two decades at this point, which (by necessity) means some repeats in subject matter. The Hogwarts Express is an example of this idea, with several different models of it appearing during the theme’s lifespan. In recent years the Harry Potter range has grown more ambitious, with large, expensive models of Hogwarts Castle and Diagon Alley appearing on the market.
A new report from Promobricks indicates that now the Hogwarts Express will be getting a more complex model. 76405 Hogwarts Express apparently contains 5,129 elements and will retail for €499.99 Euros. For reference, 75955 Hogwarts Express (the last minifigure-scale version of the train) used 801 pieces and currently retails for £79.99 / $79.99 / €89.99.

In a similar fashion to other LEGO Hogwarts Express models this new set will include the Hogwarts Castle locomotive, a single passenger coach and a large section of Platform 9 3/4. The train itself sits on a track assembly similar in design to 10277 Crocodile Locomotive, suggesting it can run on standard LEGO track elements. However, it’s not designed to be motorised out of the box.
The compartments of the passenger coach reference different scenes from the Harry Potter movies including the initial meeting of the main characters, the Dementor encounter and an as-yet unknown scene (potentially from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince). In keeping with other adult-focussed LEGO sets various tiles around the set are printed with quotes from the movies, including one from the end of the second Deathly Hallows movie.
20 minifigures can be found in this set including adult versions of Harry and Ginny, as well as their children James, Albus and Lily. Other minifigures include a black-suited Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, first-year versions of Harry, Ron and Hermione, Remus Lupin, and Hogwarts students in Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw uniforms.
The set (assuming all this information is accurate, which seems likely at this point) will be released on September 2022. Of course, until we get an official announcement from the LEGO Group, it may be best to take all this with a pinch of salt.
