More details on LEGO Star Wars 40483 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber

LEGO China has revealed more information on the availability of LEGO Star Wars 40483 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber, along with a first official image of its box.

As reported yesterday, the gift-with-purchase will come in the LEGO Group’s black 18+ packaging, representing a significant departure from last year’s 5006290 Yoda’s Lightsaber. That VIP-exclusive freebie – available to early adopters of 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina – came in the yellow box used for other GWPs including 5006293 Chariot.

According to LEGO China, 40483 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber will be free with purchases of the newly-unveiled 75313 AT-AT, which will launch on November 26 for £749.99 / $799.99 / €799.99. The buildable hilt has a value of ¥229, or roughly £26 / $36 / €31, but it’s unlikely that it will be available to buy separately.

Finally, supplies of Luke’s (or Anakin’s, or Rey’s, if you prefer) saber will be available through December 25, or presumably while stocks last – which, given how quickly Yoda’s Lightsaber sold out last year, probably won’t be the full month in most regions.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
