More details on rumoured LEGO Back to the Future 10300 DeLorean

More details have surfaced on the rumoured LEGO Creator Expert 10300 DeLorean, including a specific piece count and price point for the Back to the Future set.

Word of a Creator Expert-scale DeLorean has been floating around since April 2021, when it was originally attached to product number 10290. That’s since materialised as 10290 Pickup Truck, leaving the fate of the Back to the Future set hanging in the balance – until November 2021, when another report instead linked it with product number 10300.

The rumour mill has been relatively quiet on all things DeLorean since then, save for claims that the super-sized car will be equipped with a light brick to accentuate its flux capacitor. Now, Promobricks has published detailed information on the rumoured set, which it believes will be officially revealed within the next few days.

The first LEGO Back to the Future set, 2013’s 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine.

As well as reinforcing earlier reports of a light brick, Promobricks claims that 10300 DeLorean (if that is its final product name) will include 1,872 pieces and retail for €179.99. It will apparently also be a 3-in-1 set, with the ability to customise it to reflect the DeLorean as it appears in any of the three Back to the Future movies.

Perhaps most intriguingly, though, the model is thought to go beyond the last retro Creator Expert car, 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1, by including two minifigures on an accompanying display stand. No prizes for guessing those are Marty McFly and Doc Brown, both of whom are apparently decked out in brand new outfits based on Back to the Future II, complete with side leg printing.

Finally, 10300 DeLorean is also said to pack in new hubcaps and tube elements, while the wheels can also reportedly fold down to mimic the flying car from the sequels. The finished model will apparently measure 35.5cm long and 11cm tall, and will be available to purchase from LEGO.com from April 1.

While that’s basically all the info you could need about a LEGO Creator Expert DeLorean without seeing the actual set, it’s important to remember that this is still all just a rumour for now, and should be treated as such until officially confirmed by the LEGO Group.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

They’ve missed a potentially nice little ‘nod’ if it doesn’t have either 1985, 1955 or 1885 pieces, no?…
