More Marvel movies announced at CinemaCon 2022

Sony has announced multiple upcoming Marvel movies at CinemaCon 2022 as well as more details for the animated Spiderverse slate. 

Currently in Las Vegas, Cinemacon 2022 is underway from April 25 to 28. During this time, many companies are hosting panels to announce more details for upcoming projects. Following the release of Morbius and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony took to the stage to reveal what Marvel movies they’re releasing next. 

In terms of animation, more details for the two Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse sequels were revealed including a new name for the third film – Beyond the Spiderverse. This follows the release of Into the Spiderverse and the upcoming Across the Spider-Verse. Variety also reports that more footage for the ‘Into’ sequel was revealed at the panel focusing on Gwen Stacy in her universe.

Sony also appears to be continuing to focus on films for Spider-Man villains as a movie for El Muerto was also announced starring rapper Bad Bunny. According to the Marvel Wiki, the character is a wrestler with superhuman strength granted by his mask and has only appeared in two comics.  

Rounding out the news, it was also announced that a third Venom movie is in development. The LEGO Group has previously only released sets inspired by the Venom sequel. However, it might be Sony’s upcoming movie slate affects the future of LEGO Marvel beyond the third Venom film.
