Marvel has announced that several of their cinematic sequels have been delayed, including a few which were rumoured to be getting 2022 sets.
As announced on the official Marvel website, the slate of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies has been pushed back by a few months each, meaning that the rumoured LEGO sets for them may either release or be revealed much further ahead of the source material like Eternals’ models, or that the reported builds could also be delayed.
Here’s the updated MCU release schedule and their previous dates:
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – March 25, 2022 to May 6, 2022
Thor: Love and Thunder – May 6, 2022 to July 8, 2022
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – July 8, 2022 to November 11, 2022
The Marvels – November 11, 2022 to February 17, 2023
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – February 17, 2023 to July 8, 2023
Out of these, rumours suggested that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever were all scheduled to be getting themed sets in 2022. The former for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was said to be coming on January 1, though this is now at least four months ahead of the film instead of two.
A pair of models for Thor: Love and Thunder were reported for March, two months ahead of the release and another three were rumoured for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in May. Both would now launch well before the movies, with Black Panther’s potentially being six months ahead.
The LEGO Group hasn’t confirmed these rumours and as such, they should be taken with caution. If true, it may mean that the delays to the Marvel Cinematic Universe mean that the sets will follow, or that it is simply too late and they will release as reportedly planned. Either way, these announced shifts in the schedule have not affected Eternals or Spider-Man: No Way Home, both of which have builds for them available now.
