LEGO Marvel 76199 Carnage officially revealed

Target has now added LEGO Marvel 76199 Carnage to its website, giving us our first official look at the upcoming 18+ set.

‘Helmet’ probably isn’t the right word for this particular character – ‘bust’ would be more accurate – but it’s clearly taking its cues from last year’s 76165 Iron Man Helmet, suggesting that set (and its Star Wars contemporaries) have proved successful for the LEGO Group.

If Carnage seems like an unorthodox next step after Iron Man, it’s worth remembering that Andy Serkis’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage is still scheduled for a June 25, 2021 release (pending any pandemic-prompted delays, of course).

In any case, the imposing sculpture (which was originally revealed in an app alert) will be available to pre-order from Target’s website from 8am Central Standard Time today, March 11, though it’s not yet clear when exactly it will hit shelves – nor when or where it will be available beyond the US department store.

However, given the LEGO Group’s promise to abandon regional exclusives – and no obvious signs that this is tied to a convention, like last year’s 77905 Taskmaster’s Ambush or 75294 Bespin Duel – it’s very unlikely that 76199 Carnage will be available solely in the US.

The 546-piece set retails for $59.99 stateside, which will likely mean a price tag of £54.99 in the UK and €59.99 in Europe, in line with 76165 Iron Man Helmet.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about 76199 Carnage’s wider availability, along with the expected release date in the US (which is to say, when Target plans to fulfil those pre-orders).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
